Hi my name is Melanie and I am Mel Hudson Photography and I’m a Lifestyle Maternity, Newborn & Outdoor Family Photographer based in Carrickfergus, Co Antrim
I’m also Mummy to 4 little humans
My passion for outdoor photography has been around for as long as I can remember. Long before camera phones were a constant companion my SLR accompanied me everywhere. I would spend hours developing my images in Dark Rooms watching the paper come alive with moments I had captured.
Ive been told its best if i pop a few details about me down. So here it goes real quick. Im an introvert with a camera, love warmth, cherish my family & friends, travelled the world and ended up back home because there really is no place like home and if i have a spare 20 minutes im either getting lost in the book for this months book club or watching Grace & Frankie on Netflix…. and breathe.

At home family photoshoots allow me to capture your everydays. Its those everyday moments that make up the joy in our lives without us realising it.
I have yet to meet anyone that says “gosh i LOVE getting my photo taken”
If you aren’t relaxed then your family photoshoot will show the tension. However i can more or less guarantee a family photoshoot at home is going to be tension free. Kids love showing me their toys and treasures. Mums & Dads are surrounded by their life. To be asked to capture that for you to look back on, is a really joyful experience.

We have our babies for the shortest time, I know when we are growing them it feels like forever but genuinely its heartbeat and then they are here. Then first few weeks will pass in a blur and they will grow and change so quickly.
As a lifestyle portrait photographer I will capture those moments, in the comfort of your own home. At a time that suits you and baby.
We will talk and I will observe you with your child. Capturing the smallest details, your tiny newborn in your arms. It is a very calm and relaxed newborn baby photoshoot. If baby is awake, baby is awake.

Cake Smash Photographer
Then before you know it we are here. 1 year old and smashing into a cake!! What fun these cake smash photography shoots are. Cute little personalities have developed and they are such fun to capture.
Every cake smash i have photographed has started out with the little human unsure what to do. Then … there is this moment … its a moment of realisation. When they understand they can crack into the cake in front of them. Such JOY to be a part of that.
